How RentRight handles your data

This policy explains how RentRight handles information during the private beta for shared rent records, receipts, property communication, and related rental tools.

Last updated: May 19, 2026

Information We Collect

  • Account details such as your name, email address, role, and authentication information.
  • Rental records such as properties, units, tenant invite codes, rent cycles, payment records, receipts, maintenance requests, messages, and shortlet booking details where you choose to use those beta tools.
  • Technical information such as device, browser, session, and basic usage data needed to keep RentRight secure and working properly.

How We Use Information

  • To create and manage landlord, tenant, and shortlet beta accounts.
  • To keep shared rental records, receipts, messages, maintenance requests, and invite flows available to the right users.
  • To troubleshoot issues, improve the product, prevent misuse, and support beta onboarding.
  • To prepare platform integrations such as Google sign-in, Paystack payments, and SMS notifications when those services are enabled.

Payments And SMS

  • During the private beta, RentRight does not hold landlord rent. Manual payment records and receipts are used for tracking and proof.
  • Paystack and SMS services may be enabled after business verification is complete. When enabled, those providers will process the information required to deliver their services.

Sharing

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We share information only where needed to provide the product, operate hosting/authentication/database services, support users, comply with law, or protect RentRight and its users.
  • Landlords and tenants connected to the same rental record may see the relevant shared records, receipts, messages, and unit information needed for that relationship.

Data Security

  • We use reasonable technical and operational safeguards for the private beta, including authenticated access and service-provider security controls.
  • No online service can guarantee perfect security, so users should keep account credentials private and report suspicious activity quickly.

Your Choices

  • You can ask us to correct, export, or delete information associated with your beta account where legally and operationally possible.
  • Some records may need to be retained where they are part of a shared rental history, fraud-prevention trail, legal requirement, or active support case.
